Dishes That Are Made for a Crowd
Not every menu item scales the same way for a party of 20. Here's what works best when guests are filling plates and going back for seconds:
- Pad Thai — the crowd-pleaser that pleases every crowd, including people who've never tried Thai food before
- Kao Fried Rice & Thai Fried Rice — hearty, portable, and easy to serve family-style or in individual portions
- General KaO Chicken — a sweet-savory hit that disappears fast at birthday tables
- Drunken Noodle 🌶️🌶️ & Spicy Basil Fried Rice 🌶️🌶️ — for the guests who want the heat; label these clearly and watch them go first
- Grilled Chicken Teriyaki — lighter and universally liked, great alongside the spicier dishes
- Crab Rangoon & Gyoza — ideal as arrival bites while guests are still settling in
- Lo Mein — satisfying and filling, especially if you have a younger crowd
- Thai Iced Tea — it doubles as a conversation piece and keeps the mood fun
- KaO Platters — our sharable format designed for events; great for the center of a long table

Family-Style vs. Individually Packed: Which Is Right for Your Party?
For a birthday dinner in a Medford apartment or backyard with 10–20 people, family-style platters create the shared, festive energy most hosts are going for. Guests pass dishes around, try a little of everything, and the table stays lively.
If you're hosting a graduation open house where guests arrive in waves, or an outdoor celebration where people are moving around, individually packed portions keep things cleaner and easier to manage without a dedicated serving setup.
Tell us your setup when you reach out and we'll help you figure out the right format.

Plan Ahead: What You Need to Know Before You Book
Our catering minimum is 10 guests, which fits naturally with the size of most private parties. To make sure your order is ready when you need it, we ask for at least 48 hours notice — for weekend evening events in Medford, earlier is better. Saturday-night graduation parties book up, and 48 hours is a floor, not a target.
Note: KaO does not offer direct delivery. Catering orders are arranged for pickup at our Lawrence location or coordinated at the time of booking — contact us to discuss the logistics for your specific event.
